The Company’s vision is to become a global leader in medical safety technology. Key OMI products are the Auto Retractable Safety Syringe, the Safety Scalpel and the Safe IV Access Valve.

OMI has pioneered Retractable Safety Syringe technology in Australia and as a product leader was the first company of its type to list on the ASX in 2000.

In November 2006, OMI received United States Food and Drug Administration approval for the retractable safety syringe – a key step towards selling its products into the global market which consumes approximately 35 billion syringes each year.

The Company achieved a further milestone in September 2007, with the announcement that Fortune 500 Company Cardinal Health (NYSE:CAH) had been appointed as a distribution partner for its Auto Retractable Safety Syringe product in North America (US & Canada).

OMI Background

OMI founder Mr Bruce Kiehne is the driving force behind the OMI product range. As a product innovator he has spent more than a decade developing and refining his safety product range. He was inspired to develop these products after a relative suffered an accidental environmental needle-stick injury. This personal experience set Mr Kiehne on a quest to invent a retractable syringe.

Occupational and Medical Innovations was founded in 2000 by Bruce Kiehne and was listed on the Australian Securities Exchange (ASX) in August of that year.

Granted Cardinal Health (NYSE: CAH) non-exclusive rights to distribute its OMI Auto Retractable Safety Syringe in North America (United States and Canada) September 2007

Appointed experienced sales executive Matthew Austin as Chief Executive Officer in April 2007

Received US Food and Drug Administration approval for the Retractable Safety Syringe in November 2006

Signed agreement for distribution of the OMI Safety Scalpel in Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam, Myanmar in 2006

Testing and approval of the quality of OMI's 1ml safety syringe by a multi-national Japanese company in 2006

Developed OMI Retractable Safety Syringe for commercial use and received USA patent grant in 2006

Signed a licence agreement with Nexus Medical LLC for the OMI Safe IV Access Valve in April 2006

Achieved approval from the Therapeutic Goods Administration to distribute the automatic retractable syringe product in Australia in early 2004

Signed agreement with China Medical Group to manufacture the retractable syringe in China in 2003
